Ping also showed a mild disdain for kung fu, considering it boring and pointless compared to noodles. Rather than being impressed, Mr. Ping disrespected the move by calling it a lot of work and suggested simply hitting the opponent with a stick, much to Po's dismay. Ping is shown to be incredibly skilled at Chinese chess , beating even Master Shifu. Ping uses techniques similar to when creating noodle soup. This helped him to make the noodles much faster than before. Ping has a mastery over Chinese culinary arts, to such a degree that they appear to mimic kung fu fighting styles.
His speed, agility and proficiency with bladed tools are unparalleled in such a case. He also has a heightened sensory system, enabling him to deduce what's wrong with his food, simply by either by looking it for a few seconds, smelling it or tasting it.
This allows him to perfect his cooking. Ping has also shown in " Master Ping " to be able to perform a kung fu move after only seeing it once, much like Po. He even used his rapid learning to learn how to master Chi-based capabilities. While defending the secret Panda Village against Kai 's invasion , he and Li formed a defensive weapon called "Double Dad Defense" using kitchen equipment and bamboo sticks.
As his adoptive father, Mr. Ping loves Po more than he loves his noodles. Even though he is a little old-fashioned and maybe a bit naive to his son's wishes and adult responsibilities, he does love his son dearly and would do anything to make him happy. He gave Po his posters, swinging stars and action figures out of love and encouragement that his son could lead a normal and happy life. Ping's biggest fear is that, someday, Po will no longer need him and leave.
However, Po is a loving son who treasures his dad too dearly to leave him. This led to some friction with Po being host of the Winter Festival and Mr.
Ping declined his son's offer to have him cater it in favor of his own profitable event at the Noodle Shop on the same night.
As it turns out, both found their separate commitments dispiriting struggles, but Po returned to the shop mid-through the feast with the Masters out of loyalty to his father where Mr. Ping apologizes for being unfair to his son and his obligations as the Dragon Warrior. With his son's help, the shop's event is a rousing success that draws all the Masters to join them.

In "Love Stings", when Po notices his father may be lonely since he moved out, he tries to get his father a girlfriend but his father acts rudely to them all. The two acted very lovey dovey to each other and Ping liked the allure of a "forbidden relationship" since Scorpion was banished from the Valley.
Po tried to accept the relationship for his father's happiness, until he learned she was using Mr. Ping to help make poisoned moon cakes to take over the valley.
Ping then broke up with her, saying she was a cruel evil mastermind and that the two should see other people. When Gahri was kicked out of Fung's gang, Po left him with Mr. Ping, who reluctantly took him in. However, after seeing how hard working and capable he was, he decided to take him on as a waiter for his restaurant. He was very pleased by how good a waiter Gahri was especially in comparison to his son and how he could see lots of his dishes.
He even told Po he considered adopting Gahri as his son, much to Po's jealousy. However, he told Po that he still loved Po the most as he was his true son. Gahri also grew to like Mr.
Ping as his friend to the point where in the same episode when Mr. Ping was accused of stealing a priceless vase, Gahri lied that it was a forgery to save Mr. Ping and even though he quit, Mr. Ping bore him no ill will and told him there will always be a place for him at the noodle shop which Gahri was happy about, parting on good terms.
At first, when Li and Po reunited, Mr. Ping immediately recognized Po was Li's long lost son. When Po and Li realized that though, Mr. Ping refused to believe it because he was scared of losing Po. As Po and his father left to spend time together and Po wanted to show Li the town and make him proud, Ping mentioned he was already proud of Po.
He even snuck his way in Po's luggage so he could join them on their journey to the panda village. Li allowed him to come despite the fact the place was supposed to be secret. When Po rejected Li as his father after he learned Li lied about teaching him how to use chi so he could take Po to the village where he would be safe, Mr. Ping comforted him, saying that he felt Li would steal Po away from him but he realized that having Li in Po's life didn't mean less of Po for Mr.
Ping but more love for Po and that as his dads they needed to support Po during his fight against Kai. He also said that Po would surely forgive him, as Mr. Ping had also hid the truth from Po for twenty years about being his father and Po managed to forgive him.
The two fought together against the jade zombies and worried over Po when he sent himself and Kai to the spirit realm and were overjoyed when he came back. In Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny , the relationship between Ping and Li is explored a little more, although in the beginning Ping and Li did not want to become friends, even arguing, at Po's request, Li wanted to try to make friends with the goose, Ping, although at first he did not want to accept it, in the end he also wanted to make friends with Li knowing that he mentioned that they are like family because they share the same son: "Po".
Even as Li mentioned once, Li and Ping share the same room and bed when they sleep. Ping wears a simple red robe with light yellow lining, and a gold-colored belt with wave designs on it though this was replaced by white lining and a black belt in Kung Fu Panda Holiday to create a Santa Claus -esque image.

Tigress smashes a swinging, spiked ball of wood. Po is intimidated and overwhelmed. Shifu scowls at Po. He gestures to the gauntlet. Po's eyes go wide. PO Wait wait wait Unless you think the great Oogway was wrong, and you are not the Dragon Warrior. PO Oh, okay. Well-- I don't know if I can do all of those moves. Shifu walks away and Po half-heartedly follows. It's just, maybe we can find something more suited to my level.
PO Well, ya know I'm not a master, but uh, let's just start at zero, level zero. PO Hey! Maybe I can start with that. Po points at a rather friendly-looking dummy. We use that for training children. And for propping the door open when it's hot. But if you insist Relieved, Po turns to the dummy. The Five gather around him. PO Whoa. The Furious Five.
You're so much bigger than your action figures -- except for you, Mantis. You're about the same. Mantis gives him a look. Show us what you can do. PO Um, are they gonna watch? Or should I just wait until they get back to work or something PO Ok. I mean, I just ate. So I'm still digesting So my kung fu might not be as good as later on.
Po psyches himself up, doing some Jack Fu. PO Alright. Whatcha got? You got nothing cause I got it right here. You picking on my friends? Get ready to feel the thunder. I'm comin' at him with the crazy feet.
Whatcha gonna do about my crazy feet? I'm a blur. You never seen bear style, you only seen praying Mantis! I could come at you Monkey style. I'm comin' at ya snikity-snake.
Shifu and the Five stare at Po, perplexed. PO Alright Po lightly hits the dummy and it rocks back into place. A little harder Po punches it again, knocking it all the way backwards. He turns to Shifu, smug. The dummy rights itself and smacks Po. Totally dazed, Po trips and stumbles his way through the obstacle course. The Five instinctively step forward to help Po, but Shifu holds up his hand to stop them. A spiky tethered ball sends Po flying into the jade turtle exercise, where it rattles him around.
Back to Po in the turtle bowl. PO Feeling a little nauseous. The turtle spills him out and he stumbles into the army of wooden dummies. I think I The last dummy whaps him in the crotch and everything becomes still. He struggles to get on his feet, takes one step and reaches out to a dummy arm Po comes out the other side battered and bruised and finds he is standing on the floor that shoots out bursts of flame.
We see reflections of fire on the Five and Shifu as Po gets singed. He comes crawling into frame. The poor guy's just gonna get himself killed. The Dragon Warrior fell out of the sky on a ball of fire.
As the others walk off, we reveal Po, who unbeknownst to them has been walking behind them this whole time, hearing everything. He attempts to look at his toes but just sees gut. He lifts up his stomach, leans forward He gets up and watches them go inside. He sighs. He tip-toes into the hall. The floorboards strain beneath him. Po takes a gentle step. Po's foot goes through the floor. Po tries to recover. Po rolls his ankle and stumbles through a bedroom door.
Crane is staring back at him. You're up. PO I was just uh Some day huh? That kung fu stuff is hard work, right? Your biceps sore? Crane looks at his wing. I've had a long and rather disappointing day, so uh PO Yeah yeah yeah, of course. PO It's just I'm such a big fan. Outnumbered a thousand to one, but you didn't stop, and then you just Po does a spastic series of Kung Fu moves. We hear a RIP, and reveal that he's kicked his foot through the paper wall. Po looks stung to be hearing this from one of his heroes.
I know. You're right. I just - my whole life I've dreamed of- Crane stops Po before he embarrasses himself even more. I meant you don't belong here. I mean, in this room. This is my room. Property of Crane. Po is mortified, but covers. Right right. Yeah, you want to get to sleep. PO I'm keepin' you up. We got big things tomorrow. You're awesome. Last thing I'm gonna say. Bye bye. Po shuts the door. Crane sighs. The door flies open. Po enters with an eager smile. Sleep well.
Po backs out into the hall and closes the door. Po turns and walks down the hall to find a vacant room. Tigress opens the door behind him. Po winces. Didn't mean to wake you. Just uh PO Uh, yeah, yeah.
Of course. This is your room. You're a disgrace to Kung Fu, and if you have any respect for who we are and what we do, you will be gone by morning. She closes the door on Po, who slumps sadly. PO Big fan Oogway approaches.
Po spins around, his face dripping with peach juice. PO mouth full Is that what this is? I am so sorry. I thought it was just a regular peach tree. You eat when you are upset. PO Upset? I'm not upset. What makes you think I'm upset? Po sighs, there's no use trying to lie to Oogway. PO I probably sucked more today than anyone in the history of kung fu, in the history of China, in the history of sucking.
PO And the Five I mean, I'm not like The Five. I've got no claws, no wings, no venom. Even Mantis has those Maybe I should just quit and go back to making noodles.
Noodles, don't noodles. Po looks confused. There is a saying: Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present. Oogway hits the tree with his staff as he walks away and a peach falls into Po's open hand. The Commander runs to the ledge, the Goose right behind him. ZENG What's happening?! The Goose looks over the edge and sees Tai Lung at the bottom of the pit. Tai Lung struggles with his shackles.
Tai Lung uses the incoming spears to break his shackles and then manages to kick the spears back up into the walls, creating a makeshift staircase.
I must warn Shifu! The Commander shuts the Goose up. And neither is he. ZENG Let go of me! The winch turns and the elevator starts to rise. A rhino guard tries to reach it, but just misses. Bring it back! ZENG He's coming this way! Leaping across the spears, Tai Lung catches the elevator as the volley of arrows flies down past him.
The guards cut the rope and the elevator crashes back down to the bottom of the pit. Tai Lung swings up from the bottom of the elevator house and catches the guards by surprise.
He grabs the chain and jumps over the edge and swings around, launching himself up to the next tier, disappearing into the shadows. Tai Lung lands on a bridge, fights his way through, finally reaching the top tier where the Commander and the rest of the Rhino army await.
ZENG We're dead. So very, very dead. The Commander hushes the Goose. Archers set off charges on the ceiling. Massive stalactites crash down and the bridge begins to crumble. Tai Lung leaps across the crumbling debris and attempts one last huge jump towards the Commander.
But he falls short, claws scraping and sparking against the rock wall. The Commander laughs maniacally. On his way down, Tai Lung looks up and sees a fuse burning down to the last group of explosives. He leaps across the raining debris up to the ceiling of the cavern. Grabbing a hold of the dynamite, Tai Lung falls and slings it ahead of him at the guards. ZENG Can we run now? The door blasts open and Rhinos go flying everywhere.
The Goose hits the ground. The commander's horn prosthetic falls in front of him. ZENG Nuuu Tai Lung picks up the Goose by the throat. I was beginning to think I had been forgotten. With a creepy tenderness, Tai Lung smooths the Goose's ruffled feathers. Tai Lung throws the Goose into the air and he flutters off. Lightning strikes. The Five burst out of their rooms and land, ready for inspection.
One door remains closed. Panda, wake up! He slides open Po's door. The room is empty. He's quit. With the panda gone, who will be the Dragon Warrior? Shifu and the Five are taken aback. Reveal Po is in the middle of the floor, his legs spread wide apart. Po looks back over his shoulder to see Shifu and the Five enter the hall.
Good morning, Master! I thought I'd warm up a little. PO Stuck?! Yeah, I'm stuck. Crane approaches Po. Crane gingerly grabs Po's waistband and attempts to pull him up by flapping his wings.
PO Maybe on three. Two- Crane pulls him up and Po flops onto his back. Thank you. It takes years to develop one's flexibility and years longer to apply it in combat. Shifu flings two boards into the air. Instantly, Tigress leaps up and executes a perfect split kick.
Po is awestruck. As Tigress lands, the broken chunks of board land all around Po, knocking him on the head. Po collects a piece of splintered board as a souvenir. Shifu notices and steps forward. The only souvenirs we collect here are bloody knuckles and broken bones. PO Yeah, excellent!
He laughs excitedly and salutes Shifu. Viper and Po face off. PO I was born ready-- Viper lashes her tail around Po's wrist, wrenches his arm back, flings him into the air and brings him crashing back down on his head. I thought you said you were ready! PO That was awesome! Let's go again. Monkey twirls a bamboo staff. He lunges at Po who takes a comical beating. Shifu snaps. Po and Crane prepare to spar atop the turtle bowl.
Po falls in and is tossed around like a sack of soup. We see a series of shots of Po falling on his face at the hands of some invisible opponent, who turns out to be Shifu smiles. Flat on his back, Po manages a salute. Shifu has had it.
Your next opponent Po looks excited. PO Alright! The Five exchange worried looks. Po doesn't even finish the step as Shifu whirls him around and throws him to the floor pinning his arm behind him. PO delighted Oh, yeah! Shifu whips Po around again. Again, this time Shifu holds Po by the nose.
Po is totally inspired. PO But a real warrior never quits. Don't worry, Master, I will never quit! At his breaking point, Shifu flings Po into the air and then leaps at him with a flying kick. The Five watch him fall. I thought you said acupuncture would make me feel better.
Mantis pops up from behind Po holding a handful of needles and sticks Po again. It's just not easy finding the right nerve points under all this-- PO Fat? PO Sure you were. I mean -- look at me. Po looks for Mantis But Mantis is now on his other shoulder. He jabs another needle into Po.
